Certified Payroll Specialist (Contract)

Location: South Denver Metro Area (Hybrid)
Schedule: Hybrid - Onsite 2 days per week, Remote 3 days per week
Pay Rate: Up to $40/hour
Duration: Long-term contract through January/February, with potential extension
Start Date: ASAP

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join their team on a long-term contract assignment. This position will provide support during a medical leave and offers the opportunity to learn specialized payroll processes within a collaborative, team-focused environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong payroll experience, a willingness to learn, and the ability to adapt to unique payroll procedures. Experience with Certified Payroll or Prevailing Wage reporting is a plus, but not required, as training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage reporting requirements
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, questions, and issues
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
• Communicate updates, timelines, and progress with internal team members
• Support payroll audits and reporting activities as needed
• Learn and follow company-specific payroll procedures and workflows
• Collaborate with team members to meet payroll deadlines

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll processing experience
• Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals and payroll compliance
• Certified Payroll and/or Prevailing Wage experience preferred but not required
• Quick learner with strong problem-solving and research skills
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Ability to adapt to new processes and systems
• Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability
• Professional, collaborative attitude and willingness to accept feedback
